How to monitor particular kit with Oversight: which sensor to use, where on the device to set up access, which user function and extraction rows read the response, and how to write the rules that turn it into an alarm. Search for a vendor, a product or an error message. A misspelt word still finds its article when nothing matches exactly.
Browsers will not play sound on a page until it has been clicked, and they forget the click every time the page reloads. Until then the dashboard shows Click for sound, and alarms stay silent.
Clicking the button, or anywhere on the page, turns sound on until the next reload. To have sound from the moment the dashboard opens, allow it once for this site in each browser you use, as below. The button then no longer appears.
Firefox
- With the dashboard open, press Cmd+I on a Mac or Ctrl+I on Windows and Linux.
- Open the Permissions tab.
- Under Autoplay, untick Use Default and choose Allow Audio and Video.
- Close the window and reload the dashboard.
Edge
- With the dashboard open, click the padlock at the left of the address bar.
- Choose Permissions for this site.
- Set Media autoplay to Allow.
- Reload the dashboard.
Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and other Chromium browsers
- With the dashboard open, click the icon at the left of the address bar.
- Choose Site settings.
- Set Sound to Allow. The usual setting, Automatic, is not enough.
- Reload the dashboard.
The setting belongs to the browser, so it is needed once in each browser and on each computer. Whether sound is on, the tone, and how often it repeats while anything is critical and not acknowledged are set in Settings.
